Job Summary
The Granite Youth Symphony Prep Academy Instructor works under the direction of certified staff and is part of the classroom team responsible for supporting students’ educational programs.
This position is for a part time, hourly position teaching choir or instrumental music in a month-long summer music program.
Must be a skilled choral/Instrumental pedagogue with highly proficient piano skills. Applicant needs to be charismatic and work well with secondary school student singers and musicians.
Applicant will need availability during the month of June from 7:45am -9:45am, M-F.  
Essential Functions
  • Works under the direction of certified staff (Granite Youth Symphony Artistic Director and Granite Youth Chorus Director) in implementing students’ musical education.
  • Supervises students indoors, outdoors, and in the community to ensure their safety.
  • Performs other instructional tasks as assigned.
  • Performs under the direction of certified staff, such tasks as operating equipment, providing seizure care, special health care and observation, toileting, and lifting students, and other appropriate responses to student needs.
  • Attendance and physical presence are required and is an essential function of this position.

Work mainly takes place in a typical school environment. Requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities in all types of weather and air quality. May experience stress from disruptive students and/or groups of students.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak and/or hear.  Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, and crouch.  Occasionally required to use hands to handle or feel and must occasionally climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
