DEFINITION: Under general supervision, maintains and processes employee salary/wages, accruals, deductions, and other payroll functions for Sunnyside Unified School District.

Prepares, processes and balances all payroll issues and records for the District; manually enters and maintains records in the computer system; prepares new wage and salary compensation sheets to track employees new start-up and ending dates; answers questions pertaining to employee payroll issues or deductions; monitors and informs employees of concerns that might arise; maintains records for leave of absence and accruals and provides information to the Benefits Department; verifies information and codes pertaining to payroll; attends District orientation to assist new employees with filling out forms and checking forms for accuracy.
Prepares, reviews, and analyzes time cards and/or payroll deductions; enters new addendums; prepares reports for the District and other agencies; consolidates all records and creates files for future references; coordinates and processes removal of employee in payroll; maintains mandatory retirement forms and confidential records; receives and answers garnishments and State and Federal tax levies; may assume some duties of the Payroll Supervisor in his/her absence; performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, repetitive motion, vision to monitor, and may require lifting.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Four (4) years of financial record keeping experience in Federal, State, and/or County setting, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
