Description

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK Under the supervision of the Director II - Services for Exceptional Children, the Graduation Coach - Services for Exceptional Children shall assume responsibility for the planning, development, and case management of students with disabilities as it relates to graduation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Meet regularly with the Director II - Services for Exceptional Children and Principals to assure that the students with disabilities in the graduation cohort are on track for graduation, as it relates to academics and attendance Ensure that all students with disabilities are provided a free and appropriate public education through the provision of instructional programs and related services Monitor special education program operations to ensure compliance with guidelines, regulations, and requirements of the school division and federal requirements Assure the accurate and timely submission of all reports as requested by the local school division and the State Department of Education Monitor, analyze, interpret, and present data sets, specifically attendance, academics, and discipline Identify students with disabilities at-risk of dropping out of high school to coordinate a plan of intervention Coordinate a graduation team that includes administrators, teachers, counselors, social worker, and/or other relevant service providers to help identify at-risk students, assess student needs, and develop/coordinate appropriate interventions Coordinate with outside agencies to provide services and resources to students Collaborate with the school leadership team to ensure student services and schedules are in alignment Create a database of all students with disabilities in each year’s graduation cohort and monitor all graduation components, review weekly, and intervene where necessary Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding emerging special education issues, changes in the laws and case law, and educational methods of educating students with disabilities Present information to parents and community leaders regarding the specific programs available and services available for special education Manage assignments and meet deadlines Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Proven record as a successful teacher, administrator, or supervisor Experience in curriculum and instruction, special education, or related fields, such as administration and supervision Ability to define problems and apply problem-solving techniques Ability to effectively manage assignments and meet critical deadlines Demonstrated ability to work effectively with teachers, principals, parents, and community agencies
