SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL) SPECIALIST
 
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in education required, Masters Degree preferred.
  2. Possess a valid Arizona State teaching certificate or administrative certificate.
  3. Successful experience teaching in a multicultural setting.
  4. Successful experience working with diverse student populations.
  5. Successful experience working with parents and community members.
  6. Strong communication skills {orally and written} in English and Spanish preferred.
Essential Functions:
  • In cooperation with school staff, develop and assist with implementation of SEL curriculum within a multi-tiered system of support (PBIS framework) to meet the needs of all students 
  • Conduct multi-tiered school needs assessment for individual students/groups of students, to improve the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic outcomes of students
  • Conduct observations and provide feedback on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) competencies within the PBIS framework
  • In collaboration with teachers, develop, implement and monitor SEL lesson delivery through coaching, lesson modeling, and progress monitoring
  • Assist in development of interventions and behavior plans for the purpose of providing a safe and effective educational environment for students who are not experiencing success
  • Actively seek positive parent-teacher relationships and attend all necessary meetings to ensure the child’s needs are being met
  • Engage parents in the Social Emotional Learning process and provide them with skills and strategies to assist in developing social competence in their child
  • Assist in crisis situations
  • Provide consultation to school social worker, counselor, and teachers
  • Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies and modeling of instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of SEL
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to increase knowledge and skills of SEL, and research and evidenced based academic and behavior interventions
  • Perform other appropriate responsibilities as assigned by the district and school administration
  • Understand and follow Policies and Procedures of the Governing Board as implemented and directed through its appointed administrators.
 
Reports To: Principal
Salary: Other Certified Salary Schedule
Terms Of Employment:  Ten and half (10.5) month employee
