Description

School Psychologist, Full-time (1.0 FTE), for the 2022-2023 school year

To be based at Manzanita Elementary School 

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology or Educational Psychology
  • Current Arizona School Psychologist certificate from the Arizona Department of Education to practice as a School Psychologist
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s license and clear driving record

Under the administrative direction of the Director of Student Services, performs work of considerable difficulty developing psychological assessments of students and developing and implementing intervention and treatment plans.
 
Essential Functions:      (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.  This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a complete listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this job class.)
 
Tasks:            
  • Administer psychological and educational tests and other assessments to students and interpret results; 
  • Observe children in classroom settings and assess psychological needs; 
  • Interview teachers, parents and students and gather information about child behavior and conditions related to learning; 
  • Interpret and integrate data and develop school programs to meet the special needs of students; 
  • Consult with parents, teachers and other staff members in developing and implementing plans;
  • Plan and deliver a program of psychological services, including counseling for children, parents and teachers; 
  • Conduct interventions, individual counseling and group therapy sessions;
  • Prepare case summary reports and federally and state mandated reports;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
  • Knowledge of state and local laws and CFSD rules and regulations regarding psychological assessment of students
  • Knowledge of psychological testing and protocols
  • Knowledge of psychological counseling principles, practices and theories
  • Skill in assessing psychological needs and developing and implementing treatment plans
  • Skill in delivering psychological counseling
  • Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, administrators, students, parents and medical professionals
