TITLE: NETWORK TECHNICIAN
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associates degree plus related experience, or a minimum of a regular high school diploma plus related experience.
2. Knowledge, experience and documented expertise of computers, computer networks, computer software and operating systems.
3. Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
4. Strong written and oral communication skills, good interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Self-motivated and directed.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
The applicant may have less knowledge, experience and documented expertise, but must demonstrate the attributes, disposition and ability to learn the necessary skills to fulfill all job requirements within the first year of employment.
REPORTS TO: Director of Information Technology or designated Data Systems Technician
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary mission of the Network Technician is to provide support of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links while ensuring minimal network downtime. This person will diagnose, resolve, and document hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and support where required. The Network Technician must be mobile, flexible in scheduling, and capable of performing a variety of skilled tasks.
Communicate and take direction from the Data Systems Technician or consultant.
Responsible for diagnosing problems and taking the appropriate corrective actions to resolve issues, and notify the appropriate departments, schools or individuals.
Provides for the maintenance and preventative maintenance of all hardware and software within the district’s network and data systems. Assists in equipment cleaning.
Monitors, evaluates and establishes appropriate security access, user restrictions and hardware/software configurations, providing a safe, secure, effective, and efficient data system and network.
Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software, networked peripheral devices, cabling, and networking hardware and software products.
Maintain all network hardware and equipment, including routers,switches, and UPSs.
Performs other related work as assigned by the Data Systems Technician, the Director of IT or the Superintendent of Schools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects such as computers and peripherals. Inspect and install cables in floors and ceiling.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the board.
EVALUATION: Job performance will be evaluated by the Director of Information Technology.
