Utah International Charter School is a small charter secondary school in South Salt Lake City. We provide a challenging secondary education that is accessible to students acquiring English as a second language, in a diverse and supportive community that includes refugees, immigrants, and American-born students. We are seeking a paraprofessional to provide educational and life-skills support to students with special needs and students with interrupted formal education.
Responsibilities • Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of presenting or reinforcing learning concepts. • Guide students in independent study, testing, make-up work, and homework for the purpose of ensuring student success. • Monitor students in the classroom, cafeteria, gym, library and bus to ensure safety, a positive learning environment, and acquisition of life skills. • Communicate with special education director, teachers, and administrators to maximize student success. • Fulfill substitute teacher duties as required. • Perform record keeping and clerical functions to support teachers and administrators. • Participate meaningfully in professional development and team activities as required. • Work approximately 183 days during the traditional school year, 32 hours per week. Part-time summer work may be available.
