Assistive Technology Educator for the Blind/Visually Impaired

Job Description The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider a challenging and gratifying employment opportunity with our agency. We are seeking a dynamic and visionary individual to join our team as an Assistive Technology Educator for the Blind/Visually Impaired based out of Ogden. Travel is required across all three campuses and satellite campuses.
Principal Duties: As an Educator you will: -Perform the duties of an instructor for the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, Blind/Visually Impaired (B/VI) division -Provide appropriate assistive technology programming for blind/visually impaired students of all ages -Prepare and write lesson plans for each student -Generate information/reports on children as appropriate -Advise and teach parents in the area of assistive technology for blindness/visual impairment -Provide and maintain equipment/materials -Take a collaborative role at staffing meetings, IEP meetings, student transitions, and aid in IEP success through appropriate assessments and services, including assessment of assistive technology skills, goal development, and follow-through of the IEP -Attend training sessions and workshops as assigned by program administrators -Be involved with training colleagues in skill development programming -Coordinate with B/VI supervisor and program director -Performs other duties as assigned. -Serve assistive technology IEP needs.
