Description

Teacher for Students with Visual Impairments (TVI)

Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Division of Exceptional Student Education announces immediate openings for Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI). These are itinerant teaching positions requiring the teacher to travel to the students and are assigned schools to provide direct and/or consultative special education services relating to visual impairments. These services enable the students to learn in classroom and community environments. Services may be provided in child-care settings (within district boundaries). The students range in age from three (3) through 22 years of age, and may or may not have additional disabilities. The cognitive levels of the students range from severely impaired to gifted and talented.

Applicants must have experience working with visually impaired children and possess or meet qualifications for Visually Impaired (grades K-12) certification from the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE). Interested candidates should send a cover letter, résumé, and copy of their state certificate to Ms. Natalie A. Tappert, Instructional Support Specialist, Exceptional Student Education at NTappert@dadeschools.net.
