Assistant Kitchen Manager

Hawthorn Academy, a free charter school located in Utah, is now accepting applications for a Kitchen Assistant Manager for the South Jordan campus starting immediately.
Under the supervision of the school Principal and Kitchen Manager, the Kitchen Assistant Manager manages the kitchen staff in the absence of the Kitchen Manager. The main purpose is to lead the kitchen staff in performing all food preparation and serving activities in a timely, sanitary and orderly manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Oversees and helps kitchen staff prepare a variety of food items for daily lunch program (example: slices, measures, mixes, scoops or cooks food items). • Oversees kitchen staff in cleanliness of kitchen and kitchen equipment including but not limited to: o Daily cleaning of food preparation and serving areas (e.g., sweep and mop floors, clean and shine counters and serving equipment). o Daily washes dishes and kitchen utensils. o Periodic cleaning of storage areas, refrigerators, stoves and other equipment. o Weekly washing kitchen linens. • Understands and follows selected recipes and demonstrate to kitchen staff • Follows strict hygiene practices for themselves and the entire kitchen staff. • Oversees food service to students and faculty in a serving line with appropriate portions and refills serving equipment as necessary to help kitchen staff. • Maintains inventory management and oversees the proper rotation of items. • Maintain and oversee food safety procedures at all times. • Assists Kitchen Manager in implementing and following all Federal and State regulations as well as all local and health department regulations. Oversees kitchen staff is following all regulations. • Assist the Kitchen Manager in reviewing applications and interviews of potential hires. • Assist the Kitchen Manager in annual and ongoing training of kitchen staff.
