Location: Assigned to several elementary schools throughout the district
Expected Work Hours:
20 hrs/week
During regular school hours
General Function:
Under the direction of the school principal, works with school secretaries to identify Native American students and assists teachers in their academic support. Provides instructional support assistance to At-risk Native American students individually and in small student groups, and performs a variety of instructional and classroom interventions and supports, as well as related data/clerical tasks to support teachers, other professional staff and students in all classrooms or learning environments.

Summary and Overall Objective:
Under the direction of the school principal, works with school secretaries to identify Native American students and assists teachers in their academic support. Provides instructional support assistance to At-risk Native American students individually and in small student groups, and performs a variety of instructional and classroom interventions and supports, as well as related data/clerical tasks to support teachers, other professional staff and students in all classrooms or learning environments.
Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with school secretaries to identify and academically support At-risk Native American students
Provides instructional support assistance to Native American students and student groups.
Assists in programs that facilitate success for Native American students.
Serves as a liaison among schools, district, and parents.
Works with and assists parents to support their student’s academic success
Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
Operates various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
Complies with established district policies and procedures.
Attend district level Title VI meetings

Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program and to participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems involving concrete variables situations.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge and experience requirements; the machines, tools and equipment used; and any licenses or certifications required.
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Associates degree or 48 college semester hours (72 quarter credits) from a college or university; 720 hours on a certified transcript from a technical school or passing results (460) on the ETS ParaProfessional Assessment
If none of the above requirements have been met, the applicant must be willing to take and pass the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment within 2 months of hire (Cost of Assessment is $80 and is the responsibility of applicant).
Preferred Education and Experience:
Previous experience in a public school setting preferred.
Job Related Experience:
Previous experience in a public school setting preferred.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
This position does not require any certificates or licenses.
Current driver’s license is required for this position
