General Function:
Under the supervision of the School Principal and Music teacher, the pianist is responsible for providing accompanying music for choir classes, concerts, festivals, and other performances, travel with the choirs as needed, and work with a section or small group of students throughout the school year.

Summary and Overall Objective:
Under the supervision of the School Principal and Music teacher, the pianist is responsible for providing accompanying music for choir classes, concerts, festivals, and other performances, travel with the choirs as needed, and work with a section or small group of students throughout the school year.
Essential Functions Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide piano accompaniment for choir classes at various levels of difficulty
Provide accompaniment for concerts, festivals, and other performances
Travels with the choirs as needed
Works with sectionals and small student groups
Provides instructional support assistance to students and student groups.
Participates in the development, maintenance and carrying out of systems for small group management.
Provides guidelines and expectations to students in small groups so that work gets done.
Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
Operates various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
Complies with established district policies and procedures.
Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Encourages students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible.
Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.

Ability to read and play music with multiple staffs
Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program and to participate in monitoring and ensuring appropriate student behavior.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English at a level required for successful job performance.
Ability to help others.
Ability to meet and interact with teachers and students with tact, courtesy, and discretion.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out essential duties of this position.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge and experience requirements; the machines, tools and equipment used; and any licenses or certifications required.
Required Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Associates degree or 48 college semester hours (72 quarter credits) from a college or university; 720 hours on a certified transcript from a technical school or passing results (460) on the ETS ParaProfessional Assessment
If none of the above requirements have been met, the applicant must be willing to take and pass the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment within 2 months of hire (Cost of Assessment is $80 and is the responsibility of applicant).
Skilled in Piano Accompaniment
Preferred Education and Experience:
Previous experience in a public school setting is preferred.
Experience accompanying choirs
Experience reading music with many staffs
Job Related Experience:
Previous experience in a public school setting preferred.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
This position does not require any certificates or licenses.

Copy machines and high speed duplicators.
Computer technology.
Video equipment including VCR, camcorders and TV equipment.
Classroom Technology (i.e., projectors, document Cameras, SMART Boards, etc.)

Travel Requirements:
Personal transportation to and from school building is required
Some travel throughout the state is required
