ASL (American Sign Language) Teacher
Must hold a license issued by Utah State Office of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: Secondary Education (6-12) (Level 1), Secondary Education (6-12) (Level 2), Secondary Education (6-12) (Level 3), Secondary Education (6-12) (ARL).
The license position area must be in American Sign Language.
The license must be in one of the following grades: 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
Assignment: Based on current need; ASL level 1, ASL level 2, with the possibility of an ASL level 3 class at the High School
Knowledge of: • American Sign Language (ASL) • Methods and techniques used in communicating with deaf and hard of hearing persons. • Technical signs and/or vocabulary used in educational settings. • Confidentiality standards in the educational setting.
Ability to: • Use ASL • Function as a member of the educational team performing support activities as required • Maintain professional conduct at all times

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
