INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE JOB DESCRIPTION
The Instructional Aide Position employed by the McMinn County Schools enhances the educational process and potential of the student. Instructional Aides work with certified staff and building level administrators to assist with performing daily educational tasks as assigned. Persons must be able to adapt to performing a variety of duties, accepting direction, control and planning of an activity, ability to work with students within their learning environments, and the ability to make decisions based on sensory or judgement.
Instructional Aides must meet one of the following requirements:
1) High School diploma (or equivalent) and 48 Semester hours of college work obtained from an accredited institution of higher education; or
2) Associate Degree or higher obtained from an accredited institution of higher education; or
3) High School diploma (or equivalent) and pass a state approved Para Pro Assessment
Aid teacher in general classroom functions such as lesson materials, room preparation and tidiness, and student records.
Conduct small group instruction under the direction of the teacher.
Help provide a well-organized, efficient classroom environment.
Maintain and follow through disciplinary procedures including classroom, school, and district policies and according to individual teacher’s plan and child’s IEP as needed.
Follow specific directions with initiative, flexibility, and motivation while maintaining a positive attitude.
Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information.
Obtain other certifications and training as required by State Department of Education or the McMinn County School System.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Instructional Aides work a 180-day calendar as assigned by the school district. Salary Schedules will be established by the McMinn County Board of Education annually. Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with policies set forth by the McMinn County Board of Education.
