TITLE:  Coordinator of Student Information Services/State Reporting – 12 month


  • Responsible for managing the implementation, technical support and training of PowerSchool to schools and staff.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of the PowerSchool system and act as a liaison with end users and internal and external support staff to assure accurate problem interpretation and a resolution.
  • Interfacing all school data to obtain, correct, and analyze custom and standard reports.
  • Perform routine maintenance and application updates.
  • Work with staff and various department team members on projects, data requests, data analysis, reporting, and custom reports as needed.
  • Provide data for federal and state reporting submissions.
  • Present information to staff on topics related to PowerSchool by arranging training and PD programs.
  • Review documentation from the Commonwealth of Virginia on reporting requirement and verify the compatibility of our SIS with DOE requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding reports, plans, and programs, and/or personnel matters.
  • Responsible for keeping an up-to-date working technical knowledge of Virginia state reporting and PowerSchool.
  • Ensure data is available, reliable, consistent, accessible, secure and timely to support the mission and activities of Fredericksburg City Public Schools.

  • 5+ years of PowerSchool experience with knowledge of all aspects of PS including but not limited to the creation, maintenance of custom pages, reports, plugins, registration process, scheduling, grading, APIs, PowerTools, PowerScheduler, PowerTeacher Pro Gradebook, Parent/Student Portal, storing grades, EOY procedures, report card setup and training and integration with other LMS  and other 3rd party tools.
  • Experienced in reporting data submissions for state reports for various departments.
  • Must have a strong technical expertise in PowerSchool, SQL and Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel formulas) preferred.
  • Experienced in data collection of raw data files across multiple departments and multiple systems.
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to manage daily activities and short/long-term projects under pressure with accuracy and responsiveness.
  • Experienced in working in an education setting or similar environment.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible work schedule, as needed to solve service issues.
  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Database Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems or relevant field and/or equal experience and/or certifications preferred.
  • System Administration: Support administration in working with our student information system, PowerSchool while maintaining the health and integrity of PowerSchool. They will be expected to troubleshooting issues within the system, account management, managing software/database updates and working with PowerSchool support and other vendors to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Division Support: Responsible for responding to and resolving support tickets put in by division staff with regards to PowerSchool. They will be expected to work with schools to improve our ability to store data and improve campus efficiency. This may also include working with our software developers to integrate tools such as Level Data, Kimono, Clever, Munis and Microsoft. This role will also provide regular professional development support to staff at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  • Student Data Reporting and Quality: Responsible for reporting data to external entities, such as VDOE. The Administrator will use multiple data manipulation and cleaning techniques to improve the quality of data being entered into PowerSchool for students. Resolve discrepancies in information pertaining to compliance with Virginia Department of Education including SBAR (Student Behavior Administrative Response) reporting. Enter and verify a variety of data in appropriate systems.  Track and verify the quality of data entry from all sources.  As well as assisting to resolve problems regarding existing data and future entry of data.
  • Project Management: Support larger network initiatives while overseeing division data and reporting cycles. This entails identifying and engaging key stakeholders, clearly communicating expectations and deadlines, and expertly guiding staff through PowerSchool processes.
