Job Title: TN ALL Corps Lead Reading/Math Tutor-Grades 1-5
-Part Time: 4 days per week; 7 hour work day
-Hourly rate of pay is $50.00
-No GMSD Benefits Associated with this Position
-Funding of this position is through ESSER 3.0

Job Title: TN ALL Corps Lead Reading/Math Tutor-Grades 1-5 Part Time: 120 days annually
(FLSA: Exempt)

Job Objectives: Germantown Municipal School District’s TN ALL Corps Lead Reading/Math Tutors are expected to provide the best instructional practices, which ensure students have a quality educational experience evident by socio-emotional growth and academic achievement.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience preferred
  • Understanding of scientifically-based, mathematical intervention strategies and research
  • Data/evidence to demonstrate candidate’s effectiveness as a reading/math instructor
  • Experience using diagnostic tools to determine reading/math proficiency/deficits
  • Such alternatives as the Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee may find appropriate and acceptable
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge, and skills. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Teach targeted reading/math interventions to individuals and small groups of students using research-based strategies and resources
  • Provide group and individual instruction to motivate students, and effectively utilize the time available for instructional activities
  • Pursue a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students
  • Conduct teaching and instructional activities, using educational equipment, materials, books, software, calculators, and other learning aids
  • Utilize an adopted course of study, instructional program guidelines, and other materials in planning and developing lesson plans and teaching outlines
  • Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the reading/math deficits of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in reading/math
  • Participate in the collection of data, analysis of data results and support the sharing of findings with all relevant staff
  • Meet regularly with the classroom teachers to plan reading/math instruction that correlates with the individual student’s needs or as requested by the classroom teacher
  • Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring to ensure process fidelity
  • Maintain appropriate standards of student behavior, using behavioral management strategies and techniques, including positive reinforcement and behavior shaping procedures
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information
  • Communicate progress (gains and challenges) with parents of students served
  • Provide high quality general education instruction to students who are at-risk in reading/math
  • Use identified scientific, research-based interventions focused specifically on individual student difficulties
  • Participate in universal screening activities and assist with the analysis of the data to identify students in need of response to intervention services
  • Participate in required training for the TN ALL Corps Tutoring Program
  • Be prepared to perform the job in accordance with the TN ALL Corps Tutoring Program
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as requested by the Superintendent and/or Principal

Supervisory Responsibility: Supervises students as designated on the class roster. Also supervises students in general common areas when class is not in session.

Sustainability: This position is funded through federal grant money and will be available thru June 2024 pending allocations. GMSD will determine staffing annually during the grant funding period.

Working Conditions: Exposure to the following situations may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable.
