Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The Supervisor of Visual and Performing Arts is responsible for the planning and implementation of district-wide Music, Theatre, Visual, and Dance curriculum. This position also oversees all arts related community partnerships and supports co-curricular arts activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Formulates goals consistent with the school division’s philosophy and policies.

Designs, coordinates implementation, and monitors a comprehensive Fine Arts program for Grades K-12.

Monitors Save the Music Programs to ensure grant requirements are fulfilled.

Oversees the coordination of all arts related community partners and programs.

Tracks and monitors student enrollment in all arts programs.

Presents and prepares annual reports to the School Board and other stakeholders.

Selects and assists in the hiring process of all arts staff.

Assists building principals with appropriate scheduling for Fine Arts staff.

Ensures itinerate fine arts staff has appropriate travel, planning, and lunch time in schedule.

Coordinates and plans professional development and staff development activities for Fine Arts Staff.

Monitors and participates in professional development and meetings at the State and National level.

Develops and manages Fine Arts Budget for the District, including capital improvements for performance spaces.

Oversees all contracts relating to instrument and arts equipment maintenance.

Makes necessary arrangements for transporting participants to scheduled arts events.

Maintains District Calendar for Arts Events.

Ensures the promotion of the Fine Arts Programs.

Facilitates arts equipment movement and riser inspection.

Oversees the maintenance of middle and high school performing spaces (Auditoriums, Black Box Theatres, and Dance Studios).

Schedules and coordinates yearly maintenance for middle and high school performance spaces.

Coordinates training for auditorium light and sound system for appropriate staff.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS The duties of the Supervisor of Visual and Performing Arts will have been satisfactorily performed when the evaluation of this person is at standard or above on the applicable Performance Appraisal Criteria.
