EDUCATION ASSISTANT, CLASSROOM - DURING THE DAY TIER 2 READING & MATH SUPPORT
Hiring Pay Range: $14.01 - $14.87 per hour, DOE
FTE: .75 30 hours per week
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am - 3:00 pm (includes 30 minute unpaid meal break)
10 months/188 paid workdays per year
Benefits Eligible, Non-Exempt
Location: Manzanita Elementary School
Target Start Date: 8/8/2022
Definition: Under immediate supervision of certified teaching staff or subject specialists, performs work of moderate difficulty assisting in the structured reading and/or math education of students. Assignment may be with students of any grade level and may include support in specialized learning environments such as computer labs or in classrooms with teachers.

Tasks:
Works with students individually and in groups to:
- Assess reading and/or math deficiencies
- Implement reading lessons and/or programs to support the development of skills in phonics, phonemic awareness, and fluency
- Implement math lessons and /or programs to supportthe development of problem-solving and skill development
- Administer assessments and monitor student progress on identified skills
- Assist teachers in carrying out the educational program in reading and/or math
- Interact with children to encourage positive self-concept and enthusiasm for the learning process
- Attend to student social and emotional needs, as necessary
- Adhere to the goals, policies and procedures of the program
- Perform other related duties, as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:
Knowledge of CFSD and school policies and procedures regarding student discipline
Knowledge of reading curriculum
Knowledge of math curriculum
Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures
Skill in operating a variety of standard office equipment such as phones, copiers, calculators, paper cutters, overhead projector, scanners and computers
Skill in communicating effectively, orally and in writing
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, administrators, students and parents
Minimum Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED
Special Requirements:
CPR and First Aid certificates are required within one (1) year of hire
