Description

Qualifications:  Hold a valid Florida Educator's Certificate or eligible for a Florida certificate in Guidance and Counseling.

Imagine a school counseling role without "other duties as assigned" that allows you to focus on providing direct and indirect services to students the way you always wanted to do. And, as an arctic blast freezes the country, picture yourself enjoying 80 degree weather on the beach in South Florida while you do so! Broward County Public Schools passed a referendum to raise several million dollars to hire dozens of school counselors to work in all K-12 schools to reduce ratios, improve services, and transform the profession to a true school counseling model. These roles are district-based with counselors assigned to schools based upon the data. So, they are hired, trained, directed and evaluated by the District Director of School Counseling. These positions will be required to run small groups, provide a significant number classroom lessons, develop a caseload of individual students and support school and district-wide activities. There is a very heavy emphasis for these positions to provide mental health and social/emotional supports in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas tragedy in our district. These positions will partly support those recovery efforts, as well as help lead academic and college/career initiatives that are the focus of our District's Strategic Plan. Honestly, you're not going to find a better team to join, nor a better school counseling role.  To apply, click here (Job ID: 46132). You may also call 754-321-1675 for more information.
