Reports To: Principal

Summary: Directly support students with disabilities as directed by the teacher.

Supervised by a certified teacher, instructional assistants may apply interventions with academic tasks, progress monitoring, data collection, IEP accommodations, life maintenance tasks, and/or support acceptable classroom behavior as described in the Student Code of Conduct.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Instruction/data collection;
• Assist students in classes and activities;
• Lifting, transferring, and wheeling students;
• Comfortable with caring for personal needs of both genders to include by not limited to changing and feeding;
• Adaptive PE, adaptive daily living skills, functional living skills;
• Student discipline;
• Good listening and communication skills;
• Ability to maintain confidentiality;
• Ability to work with staff and students;
• Ability to use computer, calculator, fax machine, copier, telephone and other related office equipment; and
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:
• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Individuals working in a Title I school must hold an Associate’s degree or higher or pass the Paraprofessional test.
• Completion of 15 hours “Autism Spectrum Disorders for Paraprofessionals: Providing effective instruction and support”.
• Completion of MANDT Restraint and CPR training.
