The certificate status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.


Provide instruction and integrate with science/technology/engineering/math in a STEM accredited public charter school that has received 5 consecutive 'A' ratings from the state. Teaching staff is composed of blended teachers and most are STEM and STEAM certified. Multiple certifications are imperative for middle - high school teaching positions and encouraged for all grades.

We are a K-12 grade tuition-free, public charter school that opened in 2011. Our school's curriculum adheres to the Florida Sunshine Standards and Core Knowledge Curriculum with a focus on science/technology. Reading and math is emphasized within a technology-saturated project-based program. We also offer a garden to table lunch program with Ag-Sci raised bed and tower gardens, hydroponics and aquaponics. Burns Sci-Tech has been a state accredited 'A' school for 5 years in a row.

The school is located in the southeast corner of Volusia County, less than a mile from the Canaveral Seashore Park, Seminole Rest. All students enjoy a variety of lessons in native fauna and flora, Indian River Lagoon, unique bayou and estuary, and archaeology as they explore the Timucuan Indian Mounds. Students pause for space launches, seen outside the classrooms. Only 30 miles south of the school everyone enjoys field trips to Kennedy Space Center, American Space Museum, STEM Workshops, Astronauts Hall of Fame, and Historical Aviation Museums. Venturing south and west adventures begin with environmental airboat rides, Lockheed-Martin Engineering, Orlando attractions, cultural theater and concerts. Just north of the school are Daytona attractions, including a Museum of Arts & Sciences, Auto Racing Speedway, famous lighthouse, and beautiful sandy beaches
