Utah Connections Academy (UCA) is a tuition-free, online public school that serves students in grades K–12 throughout Utah. UCA is authorized under state law by the Utah State Charter School Board and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Utah Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Utah, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. UCA is accredited by the Northwest Accreditation Commission, an accrediting division of AdvancED.

Position Summary and Responsibilities:
Working from both a home setting and the Utah Connections Academy office, the Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the Principal and the other Assistant Principal. The Assistant Principal will manage school operations, state summative and formative testing, and federal and state grant programs. Additionally, this individual will work closely with centralized services including: Enrollment, Fulfillment, Finance, Human Resources,Curriculum/Course development. It is also anticipated that this individual will manage a range of special projects and duties.

Other key responsibilities include the following:
Manage the implementation of the proven Connections Academy operational protocols; Lead teachers and work collaboratively with Teacher Leaders in developing a healthy school culture that is aligned with the vision, mission, and values of UCA; Ensure the school meets the goals for overall school achievement and academic progress for students by tracking trends in student performance across all academic areas, including targeted instruction; Work with teachers utilizing formative and summative assessment data driving differentiated instruction based on student achievement; Oversee training and professional development; Facilitate communication between secondary teachers, Learning Coaches, and students; Represent school administration in managing grants, Land Trust, and other programs; Motivate and supervise staff in pursuit of school goals; Support student accounting functions including attendance maintenance; Manage reconciliation between Connections Academy’s data systems and state and local student information systems; Act as the liaison for school staff in the areas of CACTUS, license renewal, internships; Monitor regulatory compliance and support preparation for legislative and financial audits in collaboration with the Manager of Internal Audits; Monitor all enrollment requirements and communicate requirements to the Enrollment Department; Provide state testing support including logistics for scheduling, tracking participation and contracting for testing facilities; Support contracting for supplemental student services; Support the Marketing Department with student outreach, marketing and public relations; Stay current on the state’s policies, procedures and legislation; Be available to handle emergencies; and Other duties as necessary.
