SPED (S/P) Small Group Autism
Perspective applicants must demonstrate the ability to collaborate in a professional learning community. All of our teachers must maintain a nurturing learning environment where students are encouraged to ask questions and show respect for the teacher and classmates. Special Education teachers are responsible for developing lessons that follow the Utah State Core Curriculum. Instruction should be meaningful so that students may both observe and gain hands-on experience in a wide variety of curriculum. They should feel that ALL students have the ability to learn at high levels. Our teachers must be able to use appropriate technology, such as e-mail, to communicate with students, parents, and their colleagues. Special education teachers are responsible for the creation and implementation of Individualized Education Plans for students with disabilities. They participate as a member of the Child Study Team in the development of IEPs. Implements behavior management programs for students with disabilities according to their IEPs and in accordance with guidelines provided by district and special education policies and procedures. Works individually and in small groups with students with disabilities. Teaches academic and self-care skills. Develops and coordinates developmental teaching activities. Changing diapers and helping children in toileting. Supervision of children on playground activities and field trips.
