General Description: The LPA business manager will work and collaborate with administrators, teachers, and the LPA School Board to maintain and improve the financial health of Legacy Preparatory Academy (“LPA”) consistent with LPA School Board, Utah State and Federal charter/public school policies, practices, assurances, and reporting requirements. The LPA business manager will oversee LPA’s operating finances, will develop budgets for the school and will ensure that existing resources are used efficiently and effectively while identifying needed resources and prioritizing expenses ongoing. Whenever possible, the LPA business manager will look for ways to reduce operating costs, while also seeking opportunities to apply for Grants and/or to supplement funding efforts through donations or other community fundraising activities. The LPA business manager will also be involved with purchasing and ensuring that contractors and others are paid for services. The duties of the LPA business manager will also encompass human resource responsibilities and will be involved with hiring staff for some related positions or direct reports. When 3rd parties are contracted, the LPA business manager will oversee the contract process and will consider applicants/respondents and bids submitted. In some cases, the LPA business manager may also play a role in LPA marketing programs. Essential Functions: Administers the development and maintenance of financial operations designed to carry out the mission, goals and policies of Legacy Preparatory Academy. Prepares and administers the adopted budget and reports monthly financial statements to various stakeholders. Directs and monitors cash, check, and other receipts and deposits and performs reconciliations with supporting documentation. Maintains policies and procedures related to financial management. Oversees the completion of an annual external audit in accordance with law and Board policy and implements procedures for periodic internal audits of accounts and expenditures. Develops and implements procedures for the efficient and fiscally prudent purchase of goods and services within the limits of the adopted budget. Oversees central purchasing functions for the purchase of equipment, materials and supplies. Remains up to date with current federal and state laws impacting LPA’s business operations and accounting standards, including proposed legislation which impacts financial operations. Complies with all federal, state, school board and bond-related reporting requirements. Performs ad hoc requests and reports from the Utah State Board of Education (USBE). Oversees human resources, new hire onboarding and protocols; runs payroll with all adjustments; manages all employee benefits including accounting and reconciliation of accounts. Manages all grant-tracking from submission to acceptance; ensures funds are spent in accordance with grant requirements; maintains and supports evidence for funds spent. Reviews contracts and bids projects as required from the management team. Develops and maintains a positive, professional working relationship with the Board and faculty. Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.
