Description
Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning is searching for teachers who are capable and confident enough to build and support learning experiences that put the child in charge of their own learning. This means less teacher talk and more student talk, hands-on, real-world authentic tasks, as well as upholding high expectations for every student. In the Expeditionary Learning model, teachers collaborate closely with team members to create Expeditions, thematic units that last half of the school year, and strive to teach the Utah Core standards often through the lens of the Expedition. Our multi-age classrooms are active, collaborative, and alive with authentic learning. An instructional aide in every classroom helps to support the active nature of our students' learning. Salaries, health benefits, 401k, and classroom budgets are competitive.
Teachers can also expect to spend time outside the classroom, in the field, working with students. Fieldwork is essential to the practice of Expeditionary Learning. Teachers will be able to attend Expeditionary Learning training sessions. Any teacher considering employment at Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning can become familiar with our charter and mission on our website http://www.promontoryschool.org
This listing is for a teacher wanting to teach a first and second combined grade class full-time starting in August of 2023.
