In-School Suspension Teacher (2021-2022) - George Washington High School
Under the direction of the Principal, the In School Suspension Teacher’s responsibility is to provide support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for overseeing students assigned to In-School Suspension; documenting student behavior; and providing information to teachers, parents and/or other personnel. This job reports to the Principal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Conduct daily and long-range planning for classroom or program activities.
Display knowledge of the curriculum and subject matter.
Use effective teaching techniques, strategies, and skills during lessons.
Evaluate student progress.
Manage student behavior.
Maintain a classroom climate conducive to learning.
Provide for individual differences and learning styles.
Demonstrate a positive working relationship with the students.
Communicate student progress and needs to parents.
Engage in positive interpersonal relationships with members of the school staff.
Follow policies, regulations, and procedures of the school district.
Assume responsibilities outside the classroom.
Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.
Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Basic subjects taught in District schools including arithmetic, reading, writing, grammar and spelling.
Safe practices in tutorial center activities.
Tutorial center procedures and appropriate student conduct.
Basic instructional methods and techniques.
Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Operation of a variety of office equipment including a computer.
Record-keeping and filing techniques.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Oral and written communication skills.
