The job of Grounds Care Specialist is done for the purpose/s of overseeing the processes involved in establishing and maintaining the landscape features of assigned locations.  Provide proper attention to ensure that the properties are free of pests, turf and shrubbery are properly maintained, and that proper measures are implemented to ensure safety regarding assigned sites.  Overseeing vendors that are secured to provide any services that are not handled by in-house employees.  Overseeing  hourly employees that will be providing grounds maintenance services at assigned site/s; ensuring attractive and safe grounds area/s and athletic fields; protecting against erosion; performing a variety of special grounds maintenance operations; and maintaining grounds for assemblies, events and/or recreational activities.


Essential Functions
  • ANALYZE soil samples for the purpose of determining needed amendments such as fertilizer, compost or other additives needed to build soil conditions to an appropriate condition.
  • APPLIES and/or oversees the application of appropriate products for the purpose of ensuring the vitality and appearance of landscaped areas.
  • ASSIGN and monitor the activities of hourly employees as needed for the purpose of ensuring coverage and maintenance of assigned sites.
  • ASSIST other departments and trades in accomplishing overall expectations and needs to accomplish needed outcome for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • INFORM site managers of procedures being implemented at their facility for the purpose of ensuring proper compliance of needed safety and regulatory concerns.
  • MAINTAINS proper MSDS and other records necessary to establish and track needed safety information as well as historical records of past processes and procedures for reference for the purpose of compliance and consistency.
  • Maintains trees and shrubbery (e.g. planting, pruning and fertilization, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring well maintained sites.
  • Maintains job related grounds keeping equipment for the purpose of ensuring for the availability of equipment in a safe operating condition.
  • OPERATE needed equipment such as boom truck, dump truck, loader, chain saws, aeration devices etc. for the purpose of completing assigned tasks.
  • OVERSEES the application of pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and other necessary chemical applications for the purpose of compliance and ensuring proper maintenance of grounds.
  • RESPONDS to emergency situations with appropriate tools, equipment and manpower for the purpose of addressing situations adequately.
Requirements:
  • Equipment experiance with skidsteer, mini ex and dump truck prefered. CDL and applicators license required or willing to obtain. 
  • age 16+
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
