Full-Time High School Counselor
South Summit School District is seeking applicants for a full-time high school counselor. Salary will be based on the 2021-2022 Licensed Salary Schedule and will receive full benefits. • 100% paid traditional medical plan, 100% paid Life and LTD plan, 50% traditional dental plan, Utah Retirement, and paid leave benefits. Qualified applicants must have a current Utah Educator license with a degree or endorsement in school counseling. The applicant must maintain an effective school counseling program consistent with goals as mandated by board policy; assist the building principal in developing and maintaining an effective educational program with extensive knowledge of K-12 child and multi-cultural development; plan, organize, and direct implementation of all school counseling activities; assist in the academic program planning and scheduling of all 9th-12th grade students; and demonstrate a knowledge of educational requirements including promotion and retention. Applicants must have excellent communication skills with students and staff members, parents, and community; must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality with a thorough knowledge of FERPA and laws concerning student rights, as well as other state and federal mandates. Applicants must be fingerprinted and satisfactorily pass an employment background check. Applicant may be split between two schools with minimal travel.
