PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Responsible for creating and implementing sustainable restorative practices to improve students social, behavioral and emotional challenges.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, knowledge or abilities associated with this classification, but are intended to accurately reflect the primary job elements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Design, develop, and implement restorative justice systems.
  2. Respond to case and discipline referrals to determine appropriate restorative responses.
  3. Prepare participants and facilitate restorative dialogues, conferences and responsive circles.
  4. Follow up on restorative processes and ensure that all agreements are upheld.
  5. Coordinate program activities including case tracking, scheduling, data tracking and recording.
  6. Collaborate with partners to improve current programming and develop new opportunities for service delivery.
  7. Maintain and build professional relationships with school community, family, and community/school partners.
  8. Model and provide support and coaching to staff and partners.
  9. Collaborate with practitioners to integrate and systematize restorative practice into existing frameworks (i.e. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, trauma-informed approaches, Positive Human Development).
  10. Work with Directors to provide on-going training and work collaboratively with school leadership.
  11. Provide consultation and support around the implementation plan, policy and system changes, and aligning school culture with restorative practices.
  12. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts of restorative justice practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Skill in providing therapeutic and consultative services.
  • Skill in interacting with persons of various social, cultural economic and educational backgrounds for the purpose of providing services.
  • Ability to gather information through psychosocial assessments and standardized measurement tools to establish diagnostic formulations, appropriate goals and related objectives.
  • Ability to coordinate services with teachers, parents and others.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, counseling, or relevant field
  • Requires two (2) years of relevant restorative justice or counseling experience with secondary student.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
