Human Resources Clerical Support (part-time)
 
Summary
Assists the Director of HR in carrying out the administrative and clerical duties/responsibilities of the office in a professional and proficient manner. Supports Personnel Secretary as well as Director of HR.  Position requires high level of confidentiality and diplomacy.  Discretion in maintaining private information is crucial.
 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assist the Director of HR with daily tasks
  • Assist with maintaining personnel files – current and past;
  • Assist with filing of supporting documents for personnel files via hard copy or electronic filing
  • Maintain accurate records of teacher licensure and be familiar with requirements for obtaining a teaching license;
  • Assist with teacher licensure by collecting appropriate licensure documentation and filing licensure request forms with the VDOE;
  • Assist with preparation, consolidation, filing, etc, of employee contracts and appointment letters
  • Process verification of employment for former employees, new employees and re-hires; process verification of employment requests from other agencies for current and past employees;
  • Assist in preparation for staff trainings (new teacher/employee orientation, substitute teacher training) and other personnel events (job fairs, teacher of the year, retirement dinner);
  • Prepare recruitment and new-hire packets;
  • Assist in benefits enrollment and mid-year enrollment changes and hires;
  • Assist in processing FMLA requests and maintaining accurate records for FMLA;
  • Special projects assigned by Director of Human Resources;
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Superintendent, or designee

Qualifications
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the job tasks
  • Demonstrate the ability to deliver articulate oral and written communication and to interact effectively with teachers, administrators, classified employees, and the public
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the English language in written and verbal content
  • Demonstrate professionalism by working cooperatively with other staff members, using support services when needed; ensuring that communications are clear, accurate, and grammatically correct, respecting the confidential nature of professional information, submitting reports accurately, punctually, and complying with administrative directives, individual school guidelines, and school board policy
  • Demonstrate good work habits to include punctual and regular attendance
  • Demonstrate ability to follow verbal instructions and work independently
 
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required;
Combination of education and experience in general office procedures and human resources preferred.
Experience in area maintaining confidentiality of information preferred


Special Knowledge Skills:
Proficient skills in keyboarding, word processing, and file maintenance;
Proficient skills in Microsoft Word and Excel with ability to develop spreadsheets and use databases;
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Basic math skills
 
Evaluation Performance:
The individual in this position reports to the Director of Human Resources.  This job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.
 
Employment Status: Classified, Part-time, No benefits
FLSA:  Non-exempt
