Must hold a certificate issued by Florida Department of Education.
The certificate must be in one of the following types: Professional Certificate, Temporary Certificate, Statement of Status of Eligibility.
The certificate position area must be in one of the following areas: Algebra I, Algebra II, Calculus, Geometry, Pre-Calculus.
The certificate must be in one of the following grades: 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The certificate status must be active.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Qualifications Possess (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required) a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or a related field. Eligible or possess Florida (or any State) Professional License or Postgraduate Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach Mathematics. Possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and administration.
Other Requirements: Possess effective classroom management skills as it relates to safe learning environment, discipline, and assessment. Discover and develop special talents of students in the field of Math to help them to reach their highest potential in class and extracurricular activities. Prepare each student to meet the Florida FSA Math Standards. Have the ability to be flexible in working with students at all developmental levels. Have skills in human relations and conflict management.
PERFORMANCE GOAL: To be able to teach middle/high school math courses (Middle School Math, Algebra I Honors, Algebra-II Honors, Geometry, Pre-Calculus) To help each student develop competence in middle/high school mathematical skills and an understanding of the structure of mathematics; to motivate each student to apply mathematical understanding and skills in the solution of practical problems; to encourage the students to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Duties 1. Teach courses in mathematics to secondary students, utilizing course of study adopted by the District, FL State and other appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content. 2. Adapt Mathematics concepts and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students. 3. Develop lesson plans to demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, other available technology methods, and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids, accommodations which ESE and section 504 students need. 4. Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students. 5. Design learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world. 6. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive and safe classroom environment. 7. Evaluate academic and social growth of students; keep appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary. 8. Supervise and check homework daily, ensure students’ academic progress and serve as a primary point of contact for parents. 9. Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas. 10. Evaluate each student’s progress in meeting the course standards. 11. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. 12. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning, health and attitude problems. 13. Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress. 14. Supervise students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day. 15. Participate in staff meeting and the sponsorship of student activities. 16. Administer testing in accordance with division testing practices. 17. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Participate in various student and parent activities which occur in school including PVO, student clubs and after-school activities. 3. Create an effective learning environment through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers. 4.
