Grade 7 Social Studies Teacher Part-Time
Effective August 3, 2021

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.


Our Goal
The teacher is responsible for providing educational support to students and colleagues so that students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth. The teacher will provide live support online and support students working through their course work, and will organize and implement an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success in accordance with Bradley County Schools and State of Tennessee Department of Education policies and laws.

  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction in online learning platform
  • Understand and demonstrate operational knowledge of the Internet and Web-related technologies
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive cooperative working relationship with the students, parents, and school
  • Demonstrate effective data-based problem solving skills


REPORTS TO:  Principal

Role and Responsibilities

  • Use the “Lesson Mastery” to determine areas of need to prepare for weekly zoom targeted sessions. 
  • Daily monitoring and grading of all student work within a 24-hour period during scheduled school days.
  • Daily communication to make and/or respond to phone calls, text messages, emails, etc. within a 24-hour period during scheduled school days. 
  • Monitor attendance, send a message to the student and/or parent who is behind in their progress and/or grades and encourage them to move forward when they are 2-3% behind. Send a message to the principal of all students who are 3% behind.
  • Monthly phone calls with parents (and students) of advisory students. 


Other

  • Attendance is expected at all scheduled faculty meetings either via distance technology or face-to-face as directed by the principal. Faculty will be notified in advance of all required meetings.
  • Agrees to participate in all training and use of online delivery systems employed by Bradley County Virtual School.
  • Prepare and facilitate parent-teacher conferences a minimum of twice per school year.
  • Complete all responsibilities on time to fulfill all state testing requirements.
  • Prepare all students for any mandated tests to include ACT, TCAP, EOCs, as applicable.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and Director of Schools.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Works in standard office and school building environments.

Qualifications Profile
  • Certification/License:
  • [TN] State Certification as a Middle School Teacher 
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.

Education

  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Masters Degree preferred.
Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
