POSITION/TITLE: Bus Driver III
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months
SALARY: Classified Placement Schedule – Grade 7
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
BENEFITS: Standard Package
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have five (5) years of actual bus driving experience or equivalent experience.
Must have School Bus Certification and CDL with S and P Endorsements (Licensed).
Must have 150+ hours of Safety Training Preferred.
Must pass a written examination and must score 95% or higher.
Must pass an Oral Review Board (consisting of Transportation Director, Bus Driver III, and Administrator.)
DPS Certification number includes behind the wheel, classroom, and physical agility test.
Must have a proven successful employment record.
JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District’s curriculum and extra-curricular programs. Instruct and teach safety requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Observes Bus Driver I and II duties/responsibilities.
Drives Type A, B, C, and D school busses in accordance with the AZ Department of Public Safety minimum standards.
Obeys all local, State, and Federal traffic laws.
Exhibits safety regulations for school buses.
Reports undisciplined students to proper authorities.
Keeps assigned bus clean.
Conforms to all bus schedules.
Discharges students only at authorized locations.
Exercises responsible leadership when on an out-of-district school trip.
Transports only authorized students.
Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
Enforces bus rules as set by the school board.
When not driving a school bus, performs assigned training assignments.
Records mileage for each round trip on the bus on a form provided.
Exhibits teamwork principles in all areas of the PUSD Pupil Transportation program.
Performs and exhibits pre/post-trip inspection on a daily basis, and submit all deficiencies report to the Transportation Director.
Performs other duties as assigned.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifting and moving objects weighing over 125 pounds. The job requires physical endurance in standing, climbing, bending, stretching, pulling, and walking on uneven surfaces.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT: Subject to background investigations to determine suitability for employment.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
