Lead High School Guidance Counselor - 12 month position
Must hold a license issued by any agency.
The license position area must be in Counselor/Guidance.
The license must be in one of the following grades: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
1- Counsels with students individually & in groups, to assist in problem-solving & decision making of a personal, social, emotional, academic, educational, avocational, or vocational nature. 2- Provides for the student's orientation to the offerings of high school, its personnel, facilities, regulations, rules, customs, traditions, courses, health, discipline, attendance, guidance conseling, and psyschological services. 3- Collects, organizes, and dissemingates information concerning employment, and explains educational opportunities beyond the secondary school level. 4- Collects and interprets data about students to assist in program planning, technical, and or educational placement, and stuent adjustment. 5- Provide information for students by assisting in appraising their interest, aptitudes, abilities, educational achievement, and minor aspects of personality. 6- Provide information for students by assisting in program planning in accordance with available data so that students may have the opportunity to utilize their abilities more fully and extablish realistic goals in education, employment, and life. 7- Assists in the administration of the state testing programs and administer other test in accordance with regulations extablished by the Superintendent or Designee. 8- Consults with other school staff on making recommendations for schedule changes, individualizing instruction, and submitting and/or processing referrals to the psychologist. 9- Confers with parents in appropriate individual or group sessions on the personal, educationk and vocational development of their children, the total edjcation program of the school, the post-high school educational and occupational opportunities for their children. 10- Cooperate with other authorized service providers by assing in group seeions withh teachers, students, and administrators. 11- Facilitates transition of students by providing for consistent articulation between middle school,l high school, and post high school experiences. 12- Serving as a community liaison agent, 13- Assist the public in an understanding of the total school program 14- Present research data to appropriate professional personnel. 15- undertakes the continuous evaluation of the nature and scoope of the guidance services as outlined above for the fficient, inclusive, and effective functioning of guidance as an integral part of the total education program. 16- Paticipates on the Positive Behavior Support Team. 17- Assists administration and teachers with mulit-tiered intervention strategies to support student growth in the areas of academic, social, or mental health. 18- Assist principal and DDOT with creating the master schedule creation and scheduling of students. 19- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
