Must hold a license issued by Virginia Department of Education.
The license must be in Postgraduate Professional License.
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Algebra I, Algebra II, Calculus, Geometry, Math (General), Pre-Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Trigonometry, Mathematics.
The license must be in one of the following grades: Preschool/Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
1. Participate in curriculum development, resources adoption process, and the development of local assessments as assigned. 2. Plan and facilitate professional development sessions to focus on the needs of staff members in the implementation of a high quality and challenging mathematics program for all students. 3. Work collaboratively with teachers through coaching, co-teaching and modeling to implement a variety of instructional and assessment strategies to meet the needs of a diverse student population. 4. Work collaboratively with administrators and teachers to analyze student data, to identify students' level of understanding and/or proficiency, to interpret assessment information to inform the instructional program as well as to assist teachers in differentiating instruction. 5. Build teacher leadership and capacity in the building. 6. Provide building level leadership and support to teachers and teacher assistants to increase their content knowledge in mathematics and new instructional strategies through consultations with teachers and modeling lessons in teachers classrooms. ' classrooms. 7. Attend required training held by district personnel for mathematics specialists. 8. Support the implementation of the LCPS mathematics program in each classroom (i.e. alignment to the curriculum, appropriate use of mathematics resources) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES. Knowledge of LCPS curriculum and techniques for integrating curriculum, LCPS policies and effective instructional practices; thorough understanding of the teaching and learning process; ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education; ability to infuse technology into curriculum; ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school based staff, students, parents and community; excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills. 9. Develop and monitor remediation and intervention program K-6 in the area of math. Collaborate with teachers and building administration to monitor progress using student achievement data. 10. Must be knowledgeable in disaggregating, analyzing and using student data. 11. Other duties as assigned.
