Description
Student Services Participates as a member of eligibility committees determined for special education services and provides follow-up as needed.
Obtains sociological information through parent interviews for special services evaluations and assists in obtaining other components of the evaluation. Completes sociological reports which are presented at eligibility meetings.
Serves as case manager for certain students and their families requiring support and assistance beyond the classroom.
School and Home Services Performs home visits in line with official duties.
Serves on such intervention teams as appropriate to support students and families beyond the classroom.
School-Community Relations Liaison between the student, home, school, private counseling, social services, community resources, etc.
Liaison between the student, home, school and court services.
Make court appearances to present data and perform court-requested evaluations.
Staff Relationships/Professional Development Familiarizes school personnel with school social worker services and pertinent data concerning students.
Participates in workshops, conferences, and state and regional meetings to keep abreast of new methods and techniques.
Provides up-to-date information on available services in the community.
Participates with the Virginia Tiered Systems of Supports School teams as deemed necessary.
