Description
AcadeMir Charter Schools is looking to hire a middle school Robotics /Computer Science teacher that is proficient in computer science, coding, and robotics. Prior experience in K-12 computer science, coding, and robotics project-based learning are desirable. Candidates with previous industry experience with VEX IQ. Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire students to innovate and create are essential. Teach STEM classes where they will learn central concepts in computer programming and engineering design. In addition to STEM-specific skills, students will also strengthen their creative problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and organization skills.
The teacher will teach coding using the Code.org and/or Scratch programs, respectively. Work with students to design and program animations and games. Document students' individual and group progress throughout the program. Support students during independent and group work time.
The Robotics teacher will teach students to program and build structurally sound robots using VEX IQ Robotics Kits, and support groups of students in building and programming their own. Teach students the principles of Robotics including the functions of power sources, sensors, motors, and structural members of a robot. Document students' individual and group progress throughout the program.
