Job Title/Position: ELEMENTARY LITERACY PROGRAM SPECIALIST Grade/Terms of Employment: 12 month contract FLSA Status: Exempt Posting Date: March 8, 2021 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Work Location: Central Office Immediate Supervisor: Director of Teaching and Learning General Description Petersburg City Public Schools (PCPS) is seeking an individual with a deep commitment to improving student achievement by providing support to instructional coaches, teachers, and Title I reading staff at the elementary level. The elementary literacy program specialist is responsible for supporting the professional growth and development of staff at our four elementary schools to facilitate learning and independent application of effective instructional literacy practices. The elementary literacy program specialist also develops and writes curricula for grades K-5 aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning. The elementary literacy program specialist provides job-embedded support through classroom observations, prescriptive feedback, modeling, data analysis, and supporting school-based administrators in making data informed decisions related to literacy. The elementary literacy program specialist also plans and conducts staff development based on accessed division and school needs.
