High School Counselor
Real Academy High School is a charter school that opened in the fall of 2017. This charter school serves grades 9-12 and is located in the Real Salt Lake training center in Herriman Utah. Real Academy High School blends state of the art learning tools, CTE Pathways, 1:1 technology, sports education, and meaningful relationships with staff to build a unique high school.
Real Academy is designed for sports minded students who love academic performance. We strive to excel in both these areas and have seen excellent growth performance in both sports and academics over the last 4 years. Real Academy encourages students to choose their path of study through CTE Pathways, college preparatory classes, sport tracks, and a truly blended learning curriculum within a small, cohesive educational community. We have 400-450 students who attend our school with possibly one of the most diverse ethnic, academic, and economic student bodys in Utah. We believe those who look into our school will find it to truly be one of the most unique schools in the state.
Real Academy High School is looking for a counselor who wants to be a part of transforming this school's unique academic and sports centered vision into a reality for our students. Who love to advance their own skills and education in order to keep up with the needs of the 21st-century learner. A counselor who has a love for collaboration, building relationships with students, and a coaching/mentoring attitude towards students will find this an exciting school to be a part of.
Salaries for this position will be competitive with local salaries and based upon education and experience. A full benefits package will be offered as a part of the counselor's compensation. Duties that may be required would include, but not be limited to, evaluating students’ abilities and interests, I dentifying issues that affect school performance, helping students understand and overcome social or behavioral problems, counseling individuals and small groups on the basis of student and school needs, working with students to develop good academic skills, helping students create a plan to achieve academic and career goals, collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to help students succeed, teaching students and school staff about specific topics, such as bullying, drug abuse, suicide, and planning for college or careers after graduation, and reporting possible cases of neglect or abuse and referring students and parents to resources outside the school for additional support.
