JOB DESCRIPTION
SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The purpose for hiring this position is to support schools in the following capacities to improve the educational experience for students who are having difficulty accessing the general or special education classroom:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Must have or be eligible for a Postgraduate Professional License with School Social Worker Endorsement.
REPORTS TO: Director of Pupil Personnel Services
PERORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To support classroom teachers and other school personnel with prevention and intervention services
- To provide direct social services to students with attendance problems, anti-social behavior, and other behaviors negatively impacting school performance
- To provide individual and group counseling services
- To provided consultation/classroom and school staff for classroom management and learning environment support
- To provide training (for teachers)
- To provide support for the RTI (Response to Intervention) process
- To prepare Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
- To support Threat Assessment teams as needed
- To participate in eligibility and IEP meetings as needed
- To perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-Month or 12-Month
EVALUATIONS:
Performance on the job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of certificated personnel.
