Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
Requires a Master’s degree in Counseling and a current Arizona Guidance Counselor certificate at the time of hire.
Catalina Foothills High School
Under the administrative direction of the School Principal, the school counselor is responsible for providing a comprehensive school counseling program that is preventive in design and developmental in implementation. The program supports students in the areas of academic achievement, college and career planning, and social/emotional development.

Essential Functions:
Preventative and Responsive Services:
- Designs, implements, and assesses the effectiveness of the school counseling core curriculum;
- Utilizes responsive counseling strategies, initiating individual and group counseling based on students’ academic, career, and social/emotional needs;
- Consults and collaborates effectively with parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other educational or community agencies regarding students with identified concerns or needs;
- Assesses student needs and makes referrals to appropriate school resource personnel and/or community agencies;
- Maintains an on-going dialogue with administrators, teachers, and other school personnel regarding the needs of students;
- Intervenes during crisis situations and participates on the school crisis team.
- Assists all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career, and social/emotional skills, goals, and plans;
- Accurately and appropriately interprets and utilizes available student data to identify students in need, develop and implement academic and career plans, and to deliver services;
- Prepares students for the transition to the next level;
- Collaborates with parents/guardians and educators to assist students with academic and career planning;
- Participates on school teams in order to advocate for students’ needs and provide guidance for school staff.
- Communicates the goals of the comprehensive school counseling program to educators and families;
- Collaborates on the implementation and management of the school counseling program with the school administrator;
- Conducts a yearly program audit to review the extent and quality of program implementation, and shares results, as appropriate;
- Adheres to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the school counseling profession;
- Uses the majority of time (80%) providing direct and indirect services to students;
- Maintains current and appropriate resources for students, educators, and parents/guardians;
- Assists families in obtaining services for their children through an appropriate referral and follow-up process;
- Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality;
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
- Knowledge of state and local laws and CFSD rules and regulations regarding students
- Knowledge of psychological testing and protocols
