Speech Therapist (2020-2021 School Year)
Conducts speech/hearing screenings and evaluations and implements appropriate speech and language services for Pre-K through grade 12.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Functional knowledge of the Virginia Regulations Governing Special Education programs for students with disabilities.
Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice,and language impairments.
Provides screening to identify speech handicapped children at regular intervals and at specified levels.
Provides therapeutic individualized programs to meet students’ needs relative to existing speech and language handicaps.
Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services.
Maintains lists of referred, screened and eligible students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to motivate, inspire and help children develop effectively.
Ability to use augmentative communication and assistive technology devices.
Ability to develop effective relationships with students’ parents and school personnel.
Ability to develop IEP goals and objectives and align with SOL’s.
