DEFINITION: Under general supervision, provides secretarial support and services to an Elementary School Principal and staff for Sunnyside Unified School District.

Provides secretarial/clerical support for an Elementary School Principal and staff; maintains records of absentees for all staff; assists substitutes with class schedules; keeps time records or oversees the tracking and reporting for substitute teachers and hourly employees; prepares and disseminates correspondence on behalf of the Principal; prepares various reports for District and Governing Board.
Maintains filing system for school; answers telephones, takes messages, screens and routes calls to appropriate individuals; sorts and distributes mail; balances and maintains department budgets and supportive documents; assists students, staff and public with inquiries and requests; prepares deposits and requisitions for student council and activities; and performs related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent sitting, standing, bending, repetitive motion, vision to monitor and lifting up to 15 pounds. May be exposed to hostile or irate parents, staff or students.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent, and two (2) years secretarial/clerical experience. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District.
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment.
Salary Grade: 12 Hourly Pay: $13.38 Hours per Day: 8 Days in Contract: 238
