DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers and analyzes results of psychological test batteries which may include tests of intelligence, personality, perception and achievement.
- Interprets the evaluations to parents and school personnel.
- Prepares psychological reports outlining problems, their probable courses, and recommended remedial measures such as curricular adjustment, special learning materials, environmental improvements, class placements, behavior modification programs, and referral to outside agencies.
- Assists in case management, including presenting required data to local screening committees and co-presenting to eligibility committees.
- Serves on crises intervention teams.
- Performs an increasing more responsible range of full psychological services to students and schools.
- Interprets, explains, promotes program goals, procedures to targeted or broad based constituencies and/or participants as appropriate.
- Coordinates specialized training, workshops, clinics, conferences to carry out activity, program or initiative objectives or departmental or division wide goals; field tests curriculum materials, instructional techniques, tests and evaluation instruments.
- Participates in the selection and supervision of support staff assigned to the department; provides leadership to those employees involved, at times observing and guiding their activities.
- Meets periodically or regularly with teachers, school based and non-school based administrators, community groups/agency staff, or advisory groups as required, collaborating with them on sub-function related activities.
- Assesses and evaluates program effectiveness; maintains program data; writes reports; maintains document, report, and data files.
- Performs other related work as required or assigned.
- Pupil Personnel License with a School Psychologist endorsement ; or
- Completion of an approved program in school psychology, sixty graduate hours that culminate in at least a master's degree, and an internship documented by the degree granting institution.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Excellent organizational, planning and human relations skills.
- Good knowledge of child/adolescent growth and development and counseling theory.
- Ability to apply knowledge of counseling practices to the needs of assigned students.
- Ability to develop cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and instructional staff.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and confidentiality, to include filing of academic records
