SUMMARY: UTVA Interventionists provide targeted instruction in small groups to students based on their academic data. Interventionists support essential standards mastery using research-based curriculum and instruction. Interventionists work with homeroom teachers to support student growth and proficiency.

Planning and Preparation *Learn the curriculum in its entirety for assigned grade levels. *Demonstrate knowledge of the state standards and how both align with the K12 curriculum. *Understand overall diversity of assigned students and individual characteristics of students/parents. *Utilize asynchronous and synchronous tools to augment course content according to prescribed policies and procedures.
*Provide daily, targeted instruction live to students as needed.
Instruction and Student Achievement
*Communicate course requirements *Maintain regular office hours and conduct daily instructional sessions for at least 3 hours *Set and enforce deadlines for student work *Support parents with student curricular and instructional issues *Encourage student academic progress and attendance *Balance flexibility of the K12 curriculum with Academy policies and procedures *Conduct conferences with students and parents/responsible adult at least twice/year or more
*Conduct progress monitoring in both reading and math during regular school hours
*Collaborate with the Elementary School Principal and curriculum coordinator to determine interventions required for students *Individualize instruction to help each student achieve essential standards mastery *Grade student work and maintain grade book
*Communicate high expectations and show an active interest in student's achievement *Alert administrators to any concerns about student performance and progress *Recommend promotion and retention *Maintain regular contact with students and families
*Maintain regular contact with homeroom teacher
*Utilize and promote the use of Imagine Math and Lexia for core standards practice and remediation
*Keep attendance and academic data on each student to drive instruction
*Actiively participate in a Professional Learning Committee (PLC) Virtual Classroom Environment *Create and manage home office *Establish and maintain a positive rapport with assigned families
*Maintain accurate documentation of all communication with students and families
*Be available during the hours of 8am-4pm for staff and students and families Professional Responsibilities
*Complete job requirements on school-issued/owned computer *Collaborate with peers in PLC or other designated meetings *Build community by contributing to school website, message boards, newsletter and events *Travel to and participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions when required
*K12 trainings or other professional development activities
*State Testing Proctor Assignments
*Attend IEP meetings as requested
