Salary: Non-Degreed $60.00/day (Daily Rate-No Benefits Included)
             Degreed $100.00/day 
             Long-Term Substitute: 
             Non-Degreed $85.00/day (Daily Rate-No Benefits Included)
             Degreed $125.00/day

Primary Purpose

  • Implements lesson plans left by the permanent teacher, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate
  • Maintains and respects the confidentiality of students and school personnel
  • Addresses the various learning styles of students
  • Demonstrates the ability to implement strategies, activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in both academic and social behavior based on student’s prior knowledge and experience
  • Exercises the ability to demonstrate fair and ethical judgment
  • Implements appropriate consequences for inappropriate student behavior
  • Exercises problem solving, cooperative negotiating skills and conflict resolution strategies
  • Utilizes classroom instructional time appropriately and wisely
  • Ensures the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students
  • Collects and places students’ papers in regular teacher’s desk
  • Dismisses all students from the classroom before leaving the building
  • Completes a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular teacher
  • Returns instructional materials, equipment, and keys to proper place
  • Inquires to see if his/her services will be required for the next school day
  • Complies with and supports school and division regulations and policies
  • Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division policies and practices
Alternative or Special Education Function
  1. Work with individual students in devising educational sequences and experiences that will lead each one to achievement of his or her specified goals.
  2. Serve as a resource person in support of students pursuing an IEP or AEP individual learning programs.
  3. Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for achieving stated objectives.
  4. Organize and implement an individual program for each student in cooperation with the principal, assistant principal and teacher consistent with school board policy and guidelines.
Additional Duties
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of school cafeteria.

  • Use standard office equipment such as; personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Manages student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and the division and possess the ability to maintain effective classroom management strategies.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written directions.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Must possess the ability to establish effective working relationships with students and staff.
  • Candidate must possess good moral character.

  • Works in standard school building cafeteria

Qualification Profile
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.  Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid Teaching License or Bachelor's Degree or above preferred; High School Diploma or GED required
  • Candidate must attend an annual training and undergo OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens and Sexual Harassment Orientation before entering the classroom
