Part-Time Xtreme Reading Teacher (ATSI Grant Funded Position) 

Salary: Teachers-Certified (Daily/Hourly Rate-No Benefits Included Commensurate w/Experience)
B10 Daily Rate: $192.53-$307.31 & B10 Hourly Rate: $25.23-$40.28; 
M10 Daily Rate: $204.10-$325.75 & M10 Hourly Rate: $26.75-$42.69

To facilitate and implement the Xtreme Reading Program, services, activities, and daily lessons to SWD to improve the reading achievement of all students assigned to the program.  This commitment includes attending professional development, collecting data, and providing feedback to the principal, Xtreme Reading staff, and district staff as requested.  The Xtreme Reading Teacher will implement the Xtreme Reading Program as scripted. 

Primary Purpose
To assist the teacher in achieving instructional objectives by working with students to help them achieve required skill levels

  1. Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom specific assignments for providing effective intensive reading intervention services to students with disabilities.
  2. Administer a variety of Xtreme Reading specific tasks for the purpose of identifying student needs, assessing student growth and development with strategies and skills implemented and/or developing individual learning plans for students for sharing with colleagues.  
  3. Collaborates with a variety of persons within the school setting (i.e., instructional staff, school personnel, tutors, parents, students, Xtreme Reading staff) to improve the quality of student outcomes, develop solutions; achieve established program objectives, and/or planning.
  4. Monitor student achievement and programming to see that every child is making adequate progress with the Xtreme Reading Program.
  5. Evaluates the student’s progress with Xtreme Reading strategies to determine student progress and the need for supplemental remediation.
  6. Mentor tutors in the implementation and support of SWD students as they work in small groups to remediate deficits identified for improvement.
  7. Instruct students by following a scripted 45-minute program to improve their success in reading.
  8. Manage the Xtreme Reading program to provide a safe and optimal learning environment for all students.
  9. Participate on all instructional teams at the school level.
  10. Communicate and coordinate program with the Xtreme Reading personnel.
  11. Conduct regular meetings and provide follow-up and small group training.
  12. Maintain high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
  13. Participate in in-service training as required
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by building administrators 
  15. Perform related work as required.

Additional Duties
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of student performance.

  • Teacher Certification with Teaching Experience 
  • Strong understanding of the reading process
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrates ability to follow the extreme strategies and recommendations of the program.
  • Knowledgeable of High Yield Instructional Strategies  

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.  Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
  • Teacher certification and/or Bachelor’s or Master's Degree required;
