Job Summary: The School Social Worker will provide extensive case management and support to the students in SCPS.  The School Social Worker will provide academic support to our McKinney Vento seniors to ensure they are graduation ready.  They will assess tutoring needs of seniors for graduation requirements and link them with appropriate tutoring supports. They will monitor SOLs that the student needs to complete for graduation.   The School Social Worker will assist seniors in post-graduation plans to include FAFSA support, exploration of college and/or trade schools and employment ideas.   The School Social Worker will be able to assist families with appropriate resources (medical, dental, other health services, and social services) and education and training for them to explore. 

 The School Social Worker will provide monitoring of all McKinney Vento students attendance and grades at various intervals throughout the year. The monitoring will allow for needs to be assessed and implementation of a plan to support the student. 

The School Social Worker of the McKinney Vento program will be able to conduct suicide assessments and make appropriate referrals through the entire school year.

 The School Social Worker will provide individual, group and family counseling to address environmental and mental health barriers impacting school success.  SCPS School Social Work Team works from an ecological systems model and employs Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Informed Schools models to impact at the individual and macro level.  These interventions are ideal for the support of families experiencing homelessness.

Salary: This is a 3 year grant funded position. $25.00 an hour.
