Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher – Cosmetology
Must hold a license issued by any agency.
The license position area must be in Cosmetology.
The license must be in one of the following grades: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
JOB TITLE: Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher – Cosmetology
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of CTE and the Career Academy
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Director of CTE, provide for appropriate learning experiences for students. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings. Monitor and evaluate student outcomes. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community. Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintain appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices. Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: -Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations. -Prepares course objectives and outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school. -Assigns lessons and corrects homework. -Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, record results, and issue reports informing parents of progress. -Keep attendance records. -Maintain discipline in the classroom. -Meets with parents to discuss student progress and problems. -Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops. -Performs related duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, assisting pupils in selecting a course of study, and counseling student in adjustment and academic problems. -Complies with school and school board policies and regulations. -Demonstrates professional growth. -Prompt and accurate with required records and reports. -Uses instructional and planning time effectively. -Assumes responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities. -Assumes responsibility for a neat, safe environment for students committed to his/her care. -Demonstrates knowledge of the subject being taught. -Uses out-of-class assignments, when appropriate, to support the instructional objectives.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This job operates in a school setting but teaches Cosmetology. This role requires regular walking within the classroom and around the school.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping throughout much of the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 20 pounds.
