SUMMARY:   The Pride of Owasso Adjunct Marching and Concert Percussion Technician is an integral part of the marching band staff and is expected to be a full participant in rehearsal planning, show design, front ensemble audio design, and implementing a visual technique in conjunction with the band directors. This position will assist with all things percussion related to the marching band as well as some occasional concert percussion chamber ensembles. This is a year around adjunct position focusing on marching band in the summer and fall and concert and marching training sessions during the spring.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: These statements are intended to describe the responsibilities assigned to this position and are not intended to represent an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.

  1. Attends all competitions in the fall and football games as needed by the head director.

  2. Attends all rehearsals during the course of the season.

  3. Attends band training camp prior to the beginning of the school year. Dates and times TBD by director.

  4. Implements marching/music technique in a full ensemble and sectional settings.

  5. Teaches and cleans drill responsibilities.

  6. Runs percussion rehearsals both visually and musically in sectionals and full ensemble settings.

  7. Assists with special projects.

  8. All other duties as assigned by the administrator.

  1. Extensive experience in the marching arts / marching percussion teaching and marching required. (DCI, WGI, BOA, etc).  

  2. Knowledge of contemporary audio design is a plus, but not a requirement.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Strong leader in music and the marching arts with excellent skills in conducting, marching, choreography, and performance. Computer literate; excellent written and oral communication ability; strong knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and laws applicable to education and special education.  Ability to follow all district policies and procedures.  Ability to work independently, displaying initiative and enthusiasm for the tasks being done.  Demonstrating strong communication skills, orally and in writing, with faculty, staff, team members, and administrators.  Ability to work without supervision, and work as a team player.  Ability to document records accurately.  Ability to manage confidential information in a manner that respects students, families, and employees.  Ability to listen effectively.  


LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language including common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  


REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, sit, and walk.
